Thoughts on MarriageWritten by Stephen Clarke on Mon 5th Mar 2007 I'm getting married in a few weeks. David Cameron will never be on our guest list. Yes I agree with him that marriage is great, fabulous, wonderful, etc, etc. Yes I agree with him that a loving married relationship is the best place to bring up children. I agree that successful marriages are good for society as a whole. Families are the building blocks of communities. None of that is why I'm getting married. I'm getting married because I love my Fiancée and want to spend the rest of my life with her as my wife. Simple! No other reason! I do not need and do not want any state support for my marriage neither do I want it attacking myself and my future wife's relationship. I want the state to simply leave us alone. The state has no business trying to build up or destroy families. It should as far as possible stay out of the life of individuals, of the home, and definitely out of the bedroom. What consenting adults do together is their business. So while I'm heading for a church wedding I'd also like to wish all the best to those people out there who have registry office weddings, form civil partnerships, decide to life together or just remain single whatever you're doing out there enjoy life, have a good time and don't listen to politicians preaching morality for a few extra votes. If you want morality find a faith or none it's your life live it liberally.
