The fungal infection on the Crabapple trees
Libdem Councillors have asked Tower Hamlets Homes to sort out a nasty fungus which is attacking crabapple trees in Weavers Ward. Local residents say the trees have been diseased for at least 10 years.
Councillor Stephanie Eaton was approached by residents in Buckfast Street who were aware of her efforts to maintain rose beds in the area. Stephanie said "Having sorted out the roses, I am happy to see what we can do with the crabapples - which do look quite sick. Local residents really care about their gardens and they put a lot of work into making sure they are well maintained. In this particular garden, if we can sort out the problems with the crabapple trees this will ensure the whole garden is healthy and thriving. I am determined that the Borough's precious green spaces are looked after as they bring so much pleasure to residents and visitors".
If you know of a community garden that needs some attention please contact Councillor Stephanie Eaton by email on Stephanie.Eaton@towerhamlets.gov.uk or by phone on 07941 303 976.
