Today the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Alistair Darling released the key points of his much anticipated pre election budget.
Ajmal Masroor, the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate commented on this saying "This budget has been a political dodge rather than an economic plan. The government under the leadership of the current Prime Minister has failed the country and left its people debt ridden. Today's budget will do very little for Tower Hamlets and the people of Bethnal Green and Bow".
Under the leadership of Vince Cable, the most trusted economist and most able chancellor, I believe we will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and together move the country toward growth, recovery and stability.
There must be an end to the spend thrift ways of Labour and extraordinary cuts of public services by the Conservatives."
Vince Cable said, "today's budget wasn't honest. The Chancellor is incapable of coming clean about where spending cuts will have to fall. Rather than being honest with people about what the Government can and cannot afford, the Chancellor would rather let others indiscriminately shave departmental budgets.
And the Budget did nothing to make Britain a fairer society. We're campaigning for fair taxes, lifting millions of people out of income tax altogether. But today's Budget, by confirming the freeze in personal allowances, means everyone will see a real increase in their income tax bill.
Rather than forcing the nationalised banks to lend to good British businesses, Labour have chosen to create a feeble quango to arbitrate between bullying banks and their small business clients.
Today's Budget shows even more clearly that Britain needs real change. Thank you for everything you are doing to make that change happen."
