London's Liberal Democrat MEP Baroness Sarah Ludford is backing calls for Concorde to be saved for flying in a heritage role, by sending a message of support to a meeting of the "Save Concorde Group."

The group will meet tomorrow (29.10.05) at Heathrow airport to discuss the next steps for the campaign. Sarah Ludford said:

"Concorde is an inspiring example of what can be achieved when nations share expertise, and it would be a great pity to send such a marvellous icon of technological innovation to the scrapheap. I am thus adding my voice to calls for one aircraft to be saved and used in a heritage flying role, as a celebration of the accomplishments of European design and engineering."

Baroness Sarah Ludford MEP is sending the following message to the Save Concorde Group:

"You may rest assured of my continued support for the campaign. When Concorde made its virgin flight in 1969, the world looked on in awe at this remarkable feat of British and French engineering. We must keep Concorde alive for a heritage flying role so that this achievement can continue to be celebrated and future generations of Europeans can learn how much can be accomplished when nations share the best of their knowledge and expertise."
