At a recent public meeting, Cllr Janet Ludlow slammed Tower Hamlets Labour Group for its failure to support the public's fight against the Crossrail proposal to dig intervention shafts in the heart of our borough.

Speaking to a packed meeting in the Brady Centre on Sunday 22nd January, Cllr Ludlow said, "This is going to disrupt many local businesses and people living in the area. Where have your Labour Councillors been all this time?" What were they doing a year ago? Voting against our Liberal Democrat motion to have a properly organised consultation group involving everybody affected borough wide, they didn't voice any opposition to Crossrail digging then, why now? The looming local elections in May, that's why."

"You have the choice to chuck them out, and get some decent Councillors working hard for you and not themselves. The Liberal Democrats have always argued for tunnelling under the whole of Tower Hamlets, since the early 1990's, we have not changed our minds and will act as a voice for all those affected" she said.
