Cllr Ludlow's reply to the mayor on Crossrail10.01.11pm UTC (GMT +0000) Tue 7th Feb 2006 Cllr Ludlow requested an Extraordinary Full Council Meeting over Crossrail. This was because of the concerns over the destruction that will be caused in Spitalfields and Bangla Town by the building of Crossrail. Cllr Ullah turned that request done flat. The following is Cllr Ludlow's reply. 7th February 2006 Dear Cllr Ullah, Re: Crossrail a Requisition for an Extraordinary Full Council Meeting Thank you for your letter regarding the above. Given that your final and it seems only reason for denying this request is that it is not necessary and would not be an efficient use of resources. I would have thought this Council's commitment to the people it represents and their concerns should be paramount, even if it is to affirm the Authority's stance on this matter of Crossrail, a stance I might add that has not been clear either in the present or the past. Your refusal to allow this meeting sends a clear message to the people of Spitalfields and Bangla Town, and elsewhere in Tower Hamlets, that you choose to ignore them, their livelihood, their quality of life and more. You should be ashamed of calling yourself the Mayor of this borough, you have abdicated your responsibility to uphold the interests of the citizens who voted for you and your party. I do not expect a reply. Yours Sincerely, Cllr Janet Ludlow Leader of the Liberal Democrats Tower Hamlets
