Ben Abbotts

"A fantastic result" was how Tower Hamlets campaigner Stephen Clarke described the sensational result in Bromley and Chislehurst.

Ben Abbotts, the Liberal Democrat candidate, came within 633 votes of capturing what had previously been the 17th safest Conservative seat in the country. Mr Clarke further commented "This is a warning to the other parties that the days of assuming you have a right to a seat and taking the electorate for granted are definitely over"

In what can only have been a miserable night for them the Labour party could only manage a derisory 4th place behind UKIP.
