With the world cup over for 2006, it is time for the next generation of footballers to start making their mark. On Saturday July 8 the LAP1 Living Safely event allowed a few of Tower Hamlets footballers to show just how good they are. A random 5-a side and 7-a side group of youngsters ranging in height from 3 ft to 6 ft enjoyed a spirited and sporting contest free of any red cards.

Former Libdem Councillor John Griffiths is Chair of LAP1 and he was on hand to have a kick about with the kids and also to present medals to the participants.

Local people are interviewed about their views (photography: Stephanie Eaton)

Local people's views were recorded at the LAP event.

Entertainment at the event was provided by line dancers and a steel band. Local Police Safer Neighbourhood Teams handed out crime prevention advice and personal alarms (which are VERY loud!). Local people were interviewed about the experience of living in LAP1 and their views will be considered by the LAP steering group.
