Labour stop free visitor scratchcards for the elderly.

No parking sign

No free parking for visitors to our older residents...

Tower Hamlets Labour Cabinet is in the process of reviewing the fees for parking in the Borough. At present, visitor parking scratchcards are free to pensioners over 60 years of age and residents who need a daily carer. However, the review recommends that the provision of free scratchcards to pensioners is taken away. This will make it substantially more expensive for friends, families and carers to visit older residents.

Tower Hamlets Liberal Democrats will be opposing these changes. We believe that it is vital our older residents are offered every encouragement to maintain links with family, friends and carers. The provision of free visitor parking scratchcards is a vital service to ensure that our older residents do not suffer from isolation and remain active, healthy and independent members of our community.
